Origins of PIFF
The Plymouth Independent Film Festival (PIFF) had its origins in 2004 when a group of artists and film supporters, recognizing that Plymouth would be a perfect location for a film festival, came together and built the foundation for what turned out to be a very successful 2005 inaugural year.

With a full spectrum of events, the Festival caters to all manner of film enthusiasts. PIFF's 2005 debut brought more than 4,000 Festival attendees, and local business reported increases in revenue as high as 35 percent. In 2006, 110 films were shown including several outdoor free screenings which drew thousands to Plymouth's historic waterfront. In addition, the Festival hosted a variety of filmmaking workshops, panel discussions, awards ceremonies, and the chance to meet and learn from legendary filmmakers.

Now entering its third season, PIFF continues to have a growing and positive impact on the cultural and economic life of the South Shore, bringing the power of independent film to this historic seaside community. Fans and followers from nearby, across the country, and around the world have discovered PIFF and the engaging and entertaining experience that independent films can deliver.
